Individual admission prices

Individual admission tickets are available in a vending machine at the entrance.

Group discounts apply to 30 or more paying people.

Yearly tickets

Remember, if you're going to visit many times in one year, yearly tickets wil save you money.
Please note admission to the park is only possible with a valid card and you must always bring your card with you to gain entry.
Yearly tickets are available at the entrance.

Opening times

We are open every day of the year. The park is temporarily closed for safety reasons when it rains or snows heavily.



Spring & Summer

Entrance: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Mountaintop: 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Winter

Entrance: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Mountaintop: 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.


Please note that the transitional period, during which we gradually shorten our opening hours by 15 minutes, is fixed between the above two seasons.
The last entry to the park is half an hour before closing times of the visitor lodge on the top.

Entrance
・Entry tickets and yearly tickets are sold.
・There is a western style toilet.

・You can enjoy very beautiful coloured leaves along the trail in autumn.
Top
・The top is 160m above the sea level.
・Smoking is only allowed at the smoking area in front of the hut.
・There is a Japanese style toilet.
・Drinks and Snacks are available in the hut. Please do not give or show them to the monkeys everywhere in the park.


How to find us

Arashiyama Monkey Park Iwatayama is easily accessible by train and bus.


How to get there by train

The park is within walking distance of Hankyu Arashiyama, JR Saga-Arashiyama, and Randen Arashiyama stations. Visitors are advised to check the services to these stations before starting their journey.



From Hankyu Arashiyama station (5 minutes)
・Exit the station and turn left immediatly.
・Continue walking until you reach the street at the foot of the mountain.
・Turn right into the street and continue for about a few minutes until you reach the Togetsu-kobashi Bridge.
・Do not cross the bridge. Walk along the waterway for 20 metres until you reach the stone stairs on the left side.
・The entrance of the park is at the top of the stairs.

From JR Saga-Arashiyama station (15 minutes)
・Exit the station on the left side and walk down the street until you reach the T-junction 10 metres short of the Randen railway crossing.
・Turn right at the T-junction and go straight to the end of the street.
・Turn left into Nagatsuji Street and continue walking toward the river. Randen Arashiyama station can be found on the left side of the street.
・Walk over the Togetsu-kyo Bridge and Togetsu-kobashi Bridge.
・Turn right into the waterway and continue for 20 metres until you reach the stone stairs on the left side.
・The entrance of the park is at the top of the stairs.

How to get there by bus

The nearest bus station is Arashiyama Koen between Togetsu-kyo Bridge and Togetsu-kobashi Bridge. Arashiyama station is on the other side of the Oi River as the park. Service number 28 Kyoto city bus arrives at the Arashiyama Koen. Number 11 and 93 stops at Arashiyama.

Visitor information
Fit clothes and shoes for hiking

In order to see the centre of the troop, you need to walk on the trail to the top. You are advised to wear suitable clothes and shoes for hiking. Visitors with high-heeled shoes can hire rubber closed slippers for free at the entrance.


Lost and found

Please enquire at the entrance reception or the office on the top for lost property.


Lavatories

We have a western-style unisex toilet at the entrance. There are Japanese-style single-sex toilets at the top.



Information

If there is anything else that you need, please ask someone wearing a park uniform.


Terms of entry

・Please do not bring in any food for monkeys.
・The directors reserve the right to close all or parts of the park as necessary. The playground for children and downhill way can be temporarily closed without notice due to inclement weather or other reasons. Refunds cannot be given under these circumstances.
・Please note that no dogs are allowed. They are natural enemies of monkeys.
・Yearly tickets holders cannot be admitted without valid cards.
・Photography for commercial purposes is not permitted without the expression permission of the directors.
